3 Adventurous Ways to Experience Branson

3 Adventurous Ways to Experience Branson

[This guest post was submitted by April from The Cabins at Grand Mountain in Branson, MO. While I've never been to Branson myself, I've heard it compared to Pigeon Forge, TN, which I've written about in previous posts. It sounds like an affordable, exciting getaway for all ages! - Jen ]

3 Adventurous Ways to Experience Branson

Considered one of America’s most family-friendly destinations – and hailed as the “Live Entertainment Capital of the World” – the town of Branson, Missouri is chock-full of attractions and surprises for the whole family. Boasting upwards of 50 theaters featuring live music and performances year-round, theme parks for both the young and young-at-heart, and outdoor excursions for nature lovers, this small town in the Ozark Mountains has been dubbed the mecca of family fun in the Midwest.

There are, indeed, tons of exciting things to do and see in Branson, but here are some of the most adventurous ways to experience its natural beauty firsthand:

Go Camping

This town is strategically located in the foothills of the beautiful Ozark Mountain Country, surrounded by picturesque landscapes. That makes Branson a haven for hikers and campers alike. Branson offers plenty of gorgeous camping and RV sites that provide easy access to hiking trails, many of which lead to limestone formations, pristine lakes, and cascading waterfalls.

The Musicland Kampground, for example, is a quiet woodland paradise situated just off the Branson strip, which means it’s close to the best attractions the city has to offer. Live shows, restaurants, and other attractions are just a short walk away, and you can’t beat the Kampground’s cozy cabins and 100+ RV sites.

Go Spelunking (a.k.a., Caving)

Branson offers several cave tours that allow you to explore its many cavern systems. Whether you’re a novice spelunker or you have plenty of experience under your belt, these tours offer exhilarating opportunities to experience Branson’s majestic natural side.

Marvel Cave, a National Natural Landmark west of Branson, offers an exceptional cave tour adventure for first-timers. Located at the Silver Dollar City theme park, Branson’s most popular family-friendly destination, Marvel Cave is unsurprisingly the most toured cavern in the area. Guests can traverse a challenging but safe trail that descends nearly 500 feet below sea level. But no worries – there are ramps and stairs throughout the excursion, so it's ideal for nearly any fitness level. To make the adventure even easier, the cave features a unique cable train designed to take guests back to the surface at the end of the tour. And the best part about this tour is that it’s always included in your theme park ticket.

Aside from cave tours and other outdoor excursions, Branson is also home to three of the most adrenaline-pumping experiences in Missouri: parasailing, ziplines, and balloon rides. The zipline at Wolfe Creek Preserve is just a few minutes north of Branson. It’s an eco-adventure park with enjoyable attractions and rides for the whole family. State Park Marina is home to several water activities, including water skiing, parasailing, and more. Parakeet Pete's hot air balloon ride at Branson Landing is perfect for families as it can accommodate large groups. The balloon goes as high as 180 feet in the air for the best 360° view of the landscape, making it an experience not to be missed!

From soaring heights to the darkened depths of the earth, Branson offers numerous adventures that appeal to any traveler. So, what are you waiting for?!
