Best Laid Plans
My last blog post in April announced our highly anticipated trip to the Riviera Maya. While I had planned on blogging while there to detail our trip (and I even wrote the first draft of a post from Mexico), things didn’t quite go as expected.
Unfortunately, the hubby and I got deathly ill shortly after we arrived. Okay, maybe not deathly ill, but it sure seemed like it. And while everyone warned us not to drink the water or we’d be sick, that wasn’t what happened. Apparently one of us, most likely the hubby, had been exposed to the flu prior to our departure, so we started getting sick on our second day there. We’re talking fevers, sore throats, coughing, sinus congestion, Montezuma’s revenge . . . you name it, we pretty much had it.
The one upside? I kept joking that, at the very least, the best place to get horribly sick was in an all-inclusive resort with room service. XD We literally spent an entire day in bed with the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, only ducking out to grab toilet paper from the maid’s cart to use as Kleenex. It was bad. And we stayed sick for nearly a month after returning home.
Because of that, blogging about our trip was the last thing on my mind. Now that we’ve been back home and on the mend for a while, I figured a few posts about the Riviera Maya are long overdue, so I’ll be updating the blog over the next couple of weeks. For now, here are a few pictures of our amazing trip to Mexico, because it truly was amazing.
I just wish we could go back for a do-over.
