How To Solo Travel For The First Time
Solo travel is one of the most freeing and liberating experiences you can ever have in your life. If you don’t have the ability to go on holiday with friends or a partner this summer, what’s stopping you from leaving home and enjoying some time to yourself?
Solo travel can be a great experience and a wonderful way to increase your confidence. This year, why not make a name for yourself around the world?
Get a Villa
The first tip we offer for traveling on your own is to get yourself a private villa. For example, there are luxury villas to rent in Ubud, Bali, which can be ideal for the solo traveler. A private villa will allow you to make yourself at home and have fun during your stay alone. Being in a hotel is fine, but a villa gives you the freedom to make your own meals, have an incredible view, and enjoy amenities which some hotel rooms can lack.
The idea of traveling alone is a little bit scary, but it’s something you should try at least once in your life to get to know yourself better. When you live day-to-day life in a hurry, it can be difficult to step back and recognize what we want in life, but solo travel forces us to slow down.
Take time away from the real world, get on a plane, and enjoy time to yourself. You’ll be nervous at first, of course, but traveling alone can be a huge confidence booster and give you a sense of independence you’ve never had before. Plus, you learn how to enjoy spending time with yourself.
Try New Things
We all need to try new experiences every now and then because that’s what keeps life exciting. It also allows us to learn who we really are and what we are capable of. Take this opportunity to do everything you have been too scared to try up until now. Go diving into the sea, abseil down a waterfall. . . eat snails! Anything you haven’t tried, make it your mission to conquer during your solo trip. You might not like every experience you have, but at least you can say you made the absolute most of your time.
Going on holiday solo can be a bit daunting and you might worry that you won’t have anyone to talk to during the trip, but this isn’t the case. There are always friendly people around, and you’re sure to encounter them. You can even join a wellness retreat, group tour, or something similar where you can spend the week with like-minded people. Not only is it a lovely way to find new friends, but you might even stay friends with them after you head home!
The most important thing you can do for yourself on a solo trip is to have fun! Do anything and everything which takes your fancy at the time. Be brave and enjoy yourself every single second! If you want to spend your days lounging by the pool with a good book, go for it! If you’d rather walk around the city enjoying the sights and smells, no one’s stopping you! There’s a wonderful sense of freedom in that.
